England midfielder raves about Spurs star Harry Winks ahead of European qualifiers

Leicester City and England midfielder James Maddison has heaped praise on Three Lions teammate Harry Winks, singling the Spurs man out as one of the hardest opponents that he has come up against so far this season.

Winks has been a key member of Mauricio Pochettino's side this season, playing a part in every Premier League game.

Tottenham travelled to the King Power Stadium last month, a game in which Maddison scored the winning goal in a 2-1 defeat, but despite picking up all three points, the Foxes' man spoke of the difficulties that he and his teammates had in stopping Winks.

"He's a very good passer of the ball," the midfielder told Sky Sports . "We played Tottenham on Saturday (21st September), our job was to stop the players slide and get in as a narrow three and force it wide to stop the danger players getting it through the lines because that's where they'll hurt you.

"But even then when we're doing that really well sometimes Harry Winks, with the quality that he had, was able to play through with a quick wrap pass, two touch, receives it, turns and passes through.

Wenger: Pochettino needs to show he can give more to Tottenham

"That's the quality of the opposition that we play against, so there's never a moment where you can switch off and not do your defensive duties, because you get punished."
