England in no hurry to find Mark Robinson replacement after women's head coach steps down

England are in no rush to replace World Cup-winning women’s coach Mark Robinson, who left his post on Tuesday.

Robinson joined the ECB in 2015 and coached the team to a memorable World Cup win in 2017, though leaves on the back of a poor Ashes campaign, which saw his team thrashed by Australia.

England lost the multi-format series 12-4 on home soil, dropping three consecutive ODIs and drawing the only Test before suffering back-to-back T20 losses.

Only a 17-run win in the final T20 match prevented Australia from remaining unbeaten throughout the tour.

Robinson, who also helped England reach the final of the Women's World Twenty20 in 2018, wanted to stay, but his assistant coach Alastair Maiden is set to be in charge for the team’s next assignment, against Pakistan in December.

The players do not get together until October.

Director of Cricket Clare Connor will set about finding a full-time replacement for former Sussex men’s coach Robinson immediately, and they are set to be in place for the World T20 in Australia in December.
