England hit back at claims they play 'boring rugby' at Rugby World Cup

England have dismissed claims from Argentina that they are "boring".

Argentina captain Agustin Creevy took a shot at the England team ahead of Pool C their clash on Saturday.

Labelling them a "really structured" but "boring" team, Creevy said: “I think sometimes [their structure] is boring but it’s good for England, and it works.

"I spent a lot of time there and it was great. I improved a lot in the way I see rugby, and I understand a lot about how the England boys see rugby. They are really structured."

To add to the spice, he said that the match you be "like a war".

But England hooker Jamie George has responded, saying the comments were mind games to "try and rattle us" and that the Argentinians were "welcome to try".

Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday in Tokyo, he said: "I don’t think we do play boring rugby. I’m not overly surprised that he’s tried to say that, but he’s entitled to his opinion and, hopefully, we prove him wrong on Saturday."

Regarding suggestions that his club Saracens were also dull, George blamed the criticisms on jealousy.

He added: "It’s trophies in the bag. We are used to it. In my opinion, I don’t think it’s justified. I’m sure he’s just trying to rattle us a bit. He’s more than welcome to try.”
