England handed Nat Sciver-Brunt boost ahead of T20 World Cup semi-final

Nat Sciver-Brunt will be back in England’s XI at the Oval on Thursday - (PA Wire)

England captain Nat Sciver-Brunt has declared herself fit for her side’s Women’s T20 World Cup semi-final against South Africa on Thursday.

Sciver-Brunt re-injured her left calf after starring in a win over Ireland a fortnight ago and she missed England’s remaining group stage matches against Scotland, the West Indies and New Zealand.

Her absence has not been felt with five wins from five matches as England cruised into the knockouts but, after batting in the nets on Wednesday morning, she will return to the XI at the Oval.

“I’ve been put through my recovery paces and worked really hard to get myself to this position,” Sciver-Brunt said. “We tested it enough to be comfortable. What will happen out on the pitch will happen. I’m really happy with where I’m at physically.”

Sophia Dunkley had been brought into the side at No 3 in Sciver-Brunt’s absence, and looks the likeliest batter to miss out.

The winner of the encounter at the Oval will take on Australia in the final after their dominant win over the West Indies in the first semi-final.
