England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford 'involved in street brawl in Sunderland' as Everton confirms investigation

Everton FC has confirmed it is investigating after the club's goalkeeper Jordan Pickford, England's number one, was allegedly involved in a street brawl.

Video appears to show the World Cup semi-finalist and Everton shot stopper in an altercation and being pulled away as punches fly.

The incident is being investigated by the 25-year-old's club, which has been made aware of the footage apparently shot in Sunderland on Sunday.

A statement from Everton said: "The club has been made aware of an alleged incident involving one of our players and we are looking into the matter."

Footage of the incident was taken hours after Pickford had watched his former club Sunderland lose to Portsmouth on penalties in the Checkatrade Trophy final on Sunday.

In the video, onlookers can be heard shouting 'Jordan' as a fight breaks out.

Following this, the man believed to be Pickford is dragged away.

Pickford had played in Everton's 2-0 win over West Ham on Saturday.

Following this he spent a day off in his home city.

Last month, Everton boss Marco Silva said the 25-year-old needed to show "more emotional balance" after errors in a 3-2 defeat to Sunderland's rivals Newcastle.

Pickford cemented himself as the Three Lions' first choice goalkeeper in the 2018 World Cup, where he received plaudits for his performance.
