England goalkeeper Jack Butland celebrates becoming a Dad for the first time

Stoke City and England goalkeeper Jack Butland has been celebrating the birth of his newborn son.

Butland and fiancee Annabel Peyton have become parents for the fist time after Annabel gave birth to George Matthew Butland earlier this week.

Stoke allowed Butland, 26, to miss Good Friday's Championship match against Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium - which they lost 1-0 - in order to get to know the new arrival a bit better.

In confirming the news on Twitter , the club tweeted a picture of the happy couple cradling baby George in their arms.

The couple met in Dubai when the Stoke squad were on a mid-season break in 2016, and got engaged in Italy last year.

Butland - who has nine caps for England - was part of Gareth Southgate's squad at the World Cup last summer as the backup goalkeeping option to Jordan Pickford.

He was also named in the most recent England squad for last month's Euro 2020 qualifying matches against Czech Republic and Montenegro.

Having joined Stoke from Birmingham City in 2013, he has made 130 appearances for the club in all competitions.
