England footballer Ivan Toney has been charged with assault after an incident at a Soho nightclub.
The Metropolitan Police confirmed the striker was charged on Thursday, July 31 with assault causing actual bodily harm at the central London venue.
He will appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Thursday, September 24.
The charge relates to an alleged assault at a nightclub on Wardour Street that took place on December 6 last year, the Met said.
A spokesperson for the star said: "Ivan acknowledges the charge and although he is naturally shocked, he looks forward to being given the opportunity to clear his name in court."
Toney played for Brentford between 2020 and 2024, netting 128 goals for the west London club, before moving to Saudi club Al-Ahli for £40million.
He has taken the Saudi Pro League by storm in his two seasons with the Jeddah-based club, bagging 55 goals in 62 appearances.
He played for England at the Euro 2024 championships and the 2026 World Cup, and has ten caps and one international goal to his name.
Despite the impending court case, he has been linked with a move back to the Premier League in recent days, after his former Al-Ahli coach Matthias Jaissle was hired as Newcastle United head coach.
