England fans pack out pubs across the country for 2019 Rugby World Cup Final

England fans packed out pubs across the country as their heroes fell just short in the Rugby World Cup Final against South Africa on Saturday.

And they had to wake up early to do so, with the mouthwatering showdown at the International Stadium Yokohama in Japan getting underway at 9am (UK time).

But that didn't stop them, as the Red Rose supporters across the country headed to their nearest bars to get behind their trophy-chasing stars.

However, the Springboks proved too hot to handle for England as they ran out 32-12 winners.

Fans were seen anxiously watching the first half at Flat Iron Square in London while the clubhouses of Premiership clubs Wasps and Exeter Chiefs were also packed out.

Indeed, millions of rugby fans have tuned in to watch the match in homes and pubs across the country.

Broadcaster ITV said coverage of England's semi-final clash peaked at 10 million viewers, almost three quarters of the overall TV audience, last weekend.

The British Beer and Pub Association predicted that one million extra pints will be sold throughout Saturday if England are victorious in the match at the International Stadium Yokohama in Japan.

Meanwhile there were so many England fans in the stadium that it resembled a sold-out Twickenham, and there was a huge atmosphere as Springboks fly-half Handre Pollard kicked off.

Pollard was again in the action less than three minutes later, but his long-range penalty chance drifted wide of the posts.

There was then an immediate injury setback for England when prop Kyle Sinckler appeared to collide with team-mate Maro Itoje and crashed to the ground.

Play was held up while medics treated the front-row forward, but he was able to walk off the pitch and was replaced by Dan Cole.
