England fans aren’t happy, despite the team’s amazing run
(Picture: The FA via Getty Images)England fans are hacked off despite the team’s amazing run so far - because nearly all the match officials in the upcoming quarter-final are German.
All bar one official who will be present at the game on Saturday against Ukraine are German, causing some fans to be concerned about whether England will be treated fairly:

The referee, the video assistant referee, both assistant referees, and each of the three assistant video assistant referees are all from Germany, with Spanish official Carlos del Cerro Grande being the only non-German official of the group.
England recently beat Germany 2-0 to make it to this quarter-final game.
But despite the stress from some England fans, others remained unconcerned and said those chosen would do a good job and judge the match fairly:

The German has been a referee for the Bundesliga, Europa League, Champions League, Euros, and World Cup.
He’s also a doctor of law 👨🎓 pic.twitter.com/uYqsXa2Zrs
All these comments moaning we’ve got a German referee for the game tomorrow are ridiculous !! He’s a top referee & has been for many years !

The referee Felix Brych has earned a prestigious ranking as a UEFA elite category referee, and has previously overseen matches in both Champions League and Europa League finals.
The match between England and Ukraine takes place tomorrow (3 July) at 8pm. Whoever wins will play in the semi-finals. The team they will play against is yet to be decided due to remaining matches. The other quarter-final matches are:
- Switzerland v Spain
- Belgium v Italy
- Czech Republic v Denmark
Let’s hope it’s good news for England.
