It is D-Day for international managers as the final 26-man squads for the summer tournament must be confirmed today with 10 days to go until the opening match,
Gareth Southgate and his 23 counterparts will submit their final player lists, though unlimited replacements before the first match are allowed for serious injury or illness, including positive Covid results or needing to self-isolate as a precaution.
Goalkeepers can be replaced during the tournament but a player who has been replaced cannot be returned to the squad.
Regarding England, an injury to Mason Greenwood meant Southgate had to cut six players from his provisional squad.
Aaron Ramsdale, Ben White, Ben Godfrey, James Ward-Prowse, Jesse Lingard and Ollie Watkins have made way, while Trent Alexander-Arnold and Bukayo Saka have made the grade.
Alexander-Arnold’s selection means Southgate is taking four right-backs and just five midfielders.
