England cricketer Mark Wood delivers rousing rendition of Jerusalem

The Barmy Army are not in attendance as England's cricketers prepare for their upcoming Test series with West Indies.

But that didn't stop Ashington-born Mark Wood doing his best to replicate the atmosphere with a rousing rendition of Jerusalem.

The impressive one-man show took to the stage at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton on Friday morning as his team-mates prepared for the final day of their warm-up fixture.

Bellowing from the top of the empty stand and waving a "flag", Wood's powerful performance was filmed and shared to the delight of cricket fans on social media.

Viewed more than 100,00 times in a matter of hours, the 54-second long clip concludes with the 30-year-old paying tribute to his fellow fast bowler Jimmy Anderson.

Fans praised Wood for his impressive and confident performance, labelling him a "legend" and the "life and soul" of the team.

Wood was a member of 'Team Buttler' for the intra-squad fixture ahead of the three-match series with West Indies.

The original tour was scheduled to get under way in May, but was rescheduled in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The first Test will begin on July 8 at the Rose Bowl in Southampton, with the following two matches to take place at Old Trafford in Manchester.
