England cricket kickstart new era with stunning victory

England Harry Brook

England defeated the West Indies by 238 runs at Edgbaston in the Metro Bank ODI series opener, marking a strong start to their latest white-ball reboot under captain Harry Brook.
England scored 400 for eight, with Jacob Bethell top-scoring with 82 off 53 balls, supported by contributions from Harry Brook (58), Ollie Pope, and Zak Crawley.
The West Indies were bowled out for 162 in 26.2 overs, with Saqib Mahmood and Jamie Overton each taking three wickets.
Harry Brook, the new ODI captain, also contributed with five catches, equalling a record.
England's victory snapped a seven-match losing streak and marked their second-biggest ODI win, only surpassed by their 242-run victory against Australia in 2018.
