England captain Eoin Morgan plays cricket in the park with Afghan family days after World Cup win

Newly-crowned world champion Eoin Morgan still has time for a quick game in the park.

England captain Morgan is still basking in the glory of one of the most exhilarating finale's of any sporting event after his side beat New Zealand by the finest of margins to win the World Cup for the first time.

“You know that thing that happens at weddings, when you laugh so hard and are smiling all day, then you wake up with sore ribs,” he told Standard Sport. “That’s what I have had since then.”

That is likely the scene which met a family on Monday night as they saw Morgan walking through a park.

Morgan tweeted: "On the walk home from dinner this evening I was asked to play a game with this lovely Afghan family.. #ThePowerofsport"

The last time Morgan played against Afghanis, he hit a record-breaking 17 sixes for a career-best 148 just a few weeks ago.

Let's hope he eased off a bit last night.
