England seamer Ollie Robinson has returned to action for Sussex after more than two months on the sidelines.

Robinson, who has 39 wickets at 21 in his nine Test appearances to date, has endured a frustrating year in which his fitness has been publicly criticised by England, but he has also struggled with back spasms, dental issues and an untimely bout of Covid-19.

He has not played since May, when he managed three red-ball matches for Sussex before his injury issues returned.

Robinson returned to the team on Tuesday against Nottinghamshire in the County Championship, with Sussex bowling first.

Kent, meanwhile, were forced to replace their captain, England’s Sam Billings, ahead of day two of the match against Lancashire at Old Trafford when he tested positive for Covid.

Coincidentally he was replaced by another Ollie Robinson, the Kent wicketkeeper.
