England bowl West Indies out for 43 to secure clean sweep in fifth Women’s T20

England’s women made it a clean sweep of eight wins from eight on their tour of the West Indies as the hosts summed up a dismal series by being bowled out for 43 in the fifth and final T20.

Jon Lewis’ side will head home for Christmas having secured 3-0 ODI and 5-0 T20 series whitewashes in a tour that was as troubling for the state of West Indies cricket as it was encouraging for England.

Freya Davies and Alice Davidson-Richards took three wickets apiece as the Windies were skittled in 16.2 overs for their lowest ever T20I total. Djenaba Joseph’s 11 off 22 balls made her the only player to reach double figures.

England needed little more than five overs to chase their target, losing two wickets along the way as Nat Sciver finished unbeaten on 20 to complete a perfect first tour under new head coach Jon Lewis.

“The atmosphere on this tour has been really nice,” Davies said. “Interesting with a new head coach and everyone getting to know each other but we've got such a lovely group so that atmosphere has been great.

"Lewy [Jon Lewis] has created a really relaxed environment where we can just be ourselves and play our best cricket and it's definitely shown on the pitch."

While the home side’s bowlers have occasionally troubled England, West Indies’ batting lineup has failed repeatedly. England won all three ODIs by more than 140 runs and have been well on top throughout most of the five T20s.

The two sides are due to meet again in their opening group match at the T20 World Cup in South Africa less than two months from now.

Davies added: “All world events are massive and with where this team is at the moment, we've got a real chance at lifting that trophy and it's something everyone wants to be involved in."
