England 'bidding to host 2030 T20 World Cup' with Ireland, Wales and Scotland

England are reportedly in 'advanced talks' about staging the 2030 men's T20 World Cup as part of a 'hosting partnership' with Ireland, Wales and Scotland.

England have not hosted a T20 World Cup since 2009, which saw all the games played at Lord's, the Oval and Trent Bridge.

Now, according to a report from the Irish Independent, the ECB are spearheading a bid to host the 2030 edition of the tournament with Ireland as co-hosts.

The report states the ECB, Cricket Ireland and Cricket Scotland have met with UK Sport, the Irish Department of Sport and government officials from Wales and Scotland to discuss the bid.

The Irish Minister of State for Sport Jack Chambers is said to have written a letter to the ICC, outlining their government's support for the proposal.

England, Ireland and Scotland all featured in this year's edition of the tournament, with England getting knocked out in the semi-finals by New Zealand.

Scotland managed to qualify for the Super 12 stage after putting in some excellent performances in the first round, including a memorable win over Bangladesh.

"I’m extremely proud of how we’ve played and what we’ve achieved," Scotland skipper Kyle Coetzer said.

"It’s a huge achievement to get to the Super 12s and that’s certainly going to put us in a better place moving forward.

"When we go home we have to be bold and brave and make sure we push our whole organisation forward."

Ireland, meanwhile, crashed out in the first round after suffering losses to Sri Lanka and Namibia.

However, captain Andrew Balbirnie is confident that his side will learn from their exit, saying: "We are bitterly disappointed but we are moving in the right direction, improving I feel.

"We've got a good young squad who are hungry to learn so we can move forward, learn lessons and improve our skills."
