England and Wales among best-supported teams at Qatar World Cup, figures show

England and Wales will be among the best-supported teams at the Qatar World Cup, new figures reveal.

Organisers have sold a total of 2.45m tickets with less than 100 days to go to the big kick off on November 20.

Qatar, USA, England, Saudi Arabia, Mexico, the UAE, France, Argentina, Brazil and Germany top the table so far in terms of ticket sales by country of residence.

In the latest round, a total of 520,532 tickets were sold on a first come, first served basis. Fans living in Qatar, Saudi Arabia, USA, Mexico, the UAE, England, Argentina, Brazil, Wales and Australia led the way.

They are being urged to apply for the Hayya card which will be needed, alongside a valid match ticket, to get into the stadiums.

The sales figures emerged as Qatar 2022 unveiled an 'endless' entertainment extravaganza for fans - from camel rides on the beach to pop concerts and street carnivals.

The heart of Doha will be transformed with a 29-day 'global' street party along 6km of the iconic Corniche waterfront, with 'stellar performances', concerts, arts, culture, and story-telling.

A host of stars including Abba, Lady Gaga and Aerosmith have been approached to star in the light entertainment programme.
The Lusail boulevard will provide street entertainment and parades.

Fatma al-Nuaimi, of the supreme committee, said: “Doha’s size allows fans more time for football as fans can access more games without the expense of travel.”

There will also be concerts and live music. At the 974 Beach Club - a likely destination for England and Wales WAGs - camel and horse trails will be offered in a park near Al Bayt Stadium.

Katara Cultural Village will attract fans from around the world to Katara Beach, a pristine, sandy stretch of coastline very close to the city.
