Jordan Pickford A record 10th consecutive clean sheet rarely looked under threat. Got away with a risky pass. 6

Reece James Always a threat going forward, never troubled defensively. Has rediscovered his best form. 8

Nico O’Reilly Didn’t seem overawed on his debut. Involved in the opening goal and provided balance on England’s left. 7

Ezri Konsa Coped with the physical challenge of Dusan Vlahovic. Looks like a straight fight with Marc Guéhi to partner Stones next year. 7

John Stones Reads the danger before it can develop. A quiet night but didn’t put a foot wrong. 7

Elliot Anderson Looks so assured already. England’s metronome kept things ticking over and was always looking to play forward passes. 8

Declan Rice Ran himself into the ground as always and provided some moments of class, including a brilliant reverse pass for Rashford. 9

Marcus Rashford A cheeky nutmeg on Ognjen Mimovic in the first half showed confidence but could not take his opportunity on a rare start. 6

Morgan Rogers Some sublime early touches got the crowd off their feet. Headed only chance wide but has credit in the bank. 7

Bukayo Saka Superb volley to open the scoring. Needs to improve on his understanding with James before the World Cup. 7

Harry Kane Should have scored with his only sight of goal from a corner. A couple of outstanding passes to launch England attacks. 7

Substitutes: Eze (for Rashford 65) Immediately looked more dangerous than Rashford and took his goal so well. 8; Foden (for Kane 65) Deployed as a false nine and showed promise with assist for Eze. 7; Bellingham (for Rogers 65) Looked eager to make an impact on return to international stage. 7; Henderson (for Rice 65) Great cross for Foden chance. Reliable as ever. 7; Wharton (for Anderson 84) Little time to make an impact on second cap. 6
