Enforcement officers visit Liverpool council's Cunard Building HQ

Enforcement officers visited Liverpool's Cunard Building this morning relating to a high-value civil claim against the city council.

The team were seen entering the flagship building, one of the headquarters of the local authority, at around 10am on Friday.

The visit relates to a civil claim being made against Liverpool council, which the local authority is disputing in the courts.

The ECHO understands it is connected to a third party landlord and surrounds an issue around disputed claims of a data protection breach.

A Liverpool council spokesman said: "This matter relates to a civil claim which we are still challenging through the courts, so it would be inappropriate to comment further.”

No more details were given, but sources said the case now involved the High Court and writs had been issued to the value of tens of thousands of pounds.

Today's visit is not connected with the corruption probe currently engulfing Liverpool council, or the recent arrest of Mayor Joe Anderson.

It is a civil matter, and there is no criminal element.
