The attached assets include a cinema hall and one hotel in Mumbai, an under-construction hotel, a farmhouse, two bungalows and a 3.5-acre parcel in Maharashtra’s Panchgani.

The ED probe against the international drug dealer, who died in the United Kingdom in 2013, and others had started in September last year.

Five accused persons, including Kapil Wadhawan, Dheeraj Wadhawan and Humayun Merchant, have been arrested in the case.

“In December 2019, a chargesheet was also filed before a special court that took its cognisance. Open-ended non-bailable warrants have been issued against Asif Memon, Junaid Memon [sons of Iqbal Mirchi] and Hajra Memon [wife of Iqbal Memon] for their role in the offence of money laundering,” said the agency in a statement.

Last month, the ED had attached 15 Dubai-based properties worth ₹203 crore in the same case, while assets valued ₹573 crore was attached last December.

Iqbal Mirchi was a close associate of Pakistan-based underworld don Dawood Ibrahim. Initial investigations revealed that his family owned 25 properties in the United Kingdom.

While Hajra Memon controlled 16 properties in London, held in the name of Country Properties Limited (Jersey) and Uscombe Limited, based in the British Virgin Islands, six properties were held in the name of four U.K.-based entities. The United Arab Emirates-based Mihaj Investments Corporation Limited held three properties in London, it is alleged.
