Enes Kanter sends Steven Adams well wishes on his birthday

For the last two seasons, Steven Adams has had Nerlens Noel as his backup off the bench in Oklahoma City. Noel is a defensive-minded big who has fit the Thunder’s needs well, and he’s much different than his predecessor, Enes Kanter, who played in Oklahoma City from the middle of 2014-15 through 2016-17. Kanter provided more of an offensive spark and is an elite rebounder, but he left a lot to be desired on the defensive end.

But while with the Thunder, Kanter befriended Adams. The pair were nicknamed the “Stache Brothers” — they even had their own shirts — and made for a fairly intimidating twosome. Although it’s been a few years since Kanter and Adams played together in Oklahoma City, it appears the pair is still close, because Kanter made sure to send Adams a message on his 26th birthday on Saturday — in the form of a slideshow, featuring the Toy Story theme song.

Adams reply to the message was simple:

Next season will mark Kanter’s third since leaving the Thunder. In that span, he’s played for the New York Knicks, Portland Trail Blazers and is now set to suit up for the Boston Celtics in 2019-20.
