Energy Kitchen

Bright & brainy.

I find it harder and harder to focus on achieving New Year resolutions to eat healthy, toiling away as I write article after article for you readers to digest. There are various methods to lead a healthy lifestyle and when you're pressed for time ordering from a delivery service that caters to eating healthy meals might just be the easiest way. In a sea of similar services, Energy Kitchen springs right into action giving me the boost I need. Without wasting time, I delved into their monthly menu. Seeing as these are items from January, your experience may vary.

Chicken fried rice.

All meals are cooked on the same day as delivery, keeping the ingredients fresh. The Chicken fried rice (B140) was standard, but since it was cooked with riceberry and a combination of eggs and greens, I'd give it extra health points. The Basil chicken with vermicelli noodles (B140) is a testament to that. Marinated in soy sauce and basil, the noodles gave it a spicy kick among the mix of bell peppers, onions and mushrooms.

However, I found the Grilled chicken with larb quinoa salad (B190) a bit lacklustre and mushy. The larb was plentiful but the quinoa was a bit lacking and felt like it could use it a little more oomph. To the contrary, the Cajun chicken (B190) was delectable with a nice helping of quinoa with mango salsa on the side for that extra bit of flavour. For something more traditionally Thai, try the Grilled pork with homemade jim jaew sauce (B140).

For appetisers, the Pork shumai (B90 for four pieces) was delicious with every egg-covered-in-pork bite. The Homemade gyoza (B90 for six pieces) with pork tom yum filling gave me the recognisable balance of sour and spicy. You can opt to change the filling for pork with chives, pork with cabbage or mushrooms for the vegetarians.

And food is not all they do! From their healthy drinks selection, I tried the Bright & brainy (B140 per bottle). Consisting of apples, carrots, ginger and lemon, I'm not sure if this will make you any smarter but it serves well as a re-energising potion to get through the day. The Immune booster (B140), with more or less the same ingredients as the Bright & brainy (switching carrots in favour of oranges), is as refreshing with a nice helping of vitamin C to prevent illnesses, with the air pollution going around town.

All the meals I sampled were regular size. However, you could choose a "I'm hungry" size for bigger portions with a bit of a price increase. While all meals felt healthy, the monthly menu could use a little more variety than just marinated or grilled meats. However, those looking for that extra burst of energy without thinking much about variety, Energy Kitchen delivery service may serve you well.
