Democrat Leslie Armstrong-McLeod of Fox Lake — a media specialist/webmaster at Community Consolidated School District 46 in Grayslake and president of the paraprofessionals and support staff union — is thoughtful and has a good grip of the issues. We respect her determination not to let this be an uncontested seat.
But our endorsement goes to incumbent Republican Tom Weber of Lake Villa for his stronger knowledge of how government works and how to get things done.
Weber’s priorities include property tax relief, transportation for senior citizens and disabled people, and flooding. He is especially concerned about conditions of the Chain O’Lakes, a recreational and economic powerhouse for the district. Weber says if the shallow lakes are not properly cared for, they’ll turn into mudflats people could walk over in boots.
He has worked with the Army Corps of Engineers, the Illinois Department of Natural Resources and the Fox Waterway Agency to ensure proper stewardship of the lakes. He also is attentive to businesses around the lakes.
