The Illinois economy has a long road ahead to fully recover from the devastation of COVID-19. Springfield will need smart voices and sound ideas for how to accomplish that.
We endorse Republican Tim Ozinga of Mokena to be one of those voices. As executive vice president of a family-owned construction and logistics business, Ozinga Brothers, he knows a thing or two about what it takes for government to help businesses thrive and create good jobs.
Ozinga has a solid grasp of the infrastructure concerns that are a huge issue in this Will County district, which includes all or parts of Frankfort, Mokena, New Lenox, Joliet, Orland Park, Tinley Park, Lockport and Homer Glen. We also applaud his strong position in favor of higher state funding for education, another must if Illinois is to thrive post-pandemic.
Ozinga is a member of Mokena’s Economic Development Commission and is board secretary for the Mokena Community Park District. He is endorsed over Democrat Michelle Fadeley for this open seat being vacated by Republican Margo McDermed.
