Smart, energetic candidates with the experience to hit the ground running in Springfield don’t come around every day. Democrat Suzanne Ness of Crystal Lake is that kind of candidate. She has our endorsement.
Ness sits on the McHenry County Board, where she’s a member of the minority party. She helped craft new ethics guidelines for the board, an often unpopular task, demonstrating a willingness to stand on principle. We appreciate Ness’ work to protect the local environment, serving on a county board committee that crafted a plan to protect the region’s water supply, and her work for education.
Ness is challenging incumbent Republican Allen Skillicorn, who has done nothing in Springfield. He rails against taxes but passes no bills. He mocks the state’s efforts against COVID-19. Residents of the 66th District deserve better.
