ENDORSEMENT: Frances Ann Hurley for Illinois House in 35th District

State Rep. Frances Ann Hurley is endorsed for re-election to the Illinois House in the 35th District. | Ashlee Rezin Garcia/Sun-Times

Democratic state Rep. Frances Ann Hurley has been a worthy advocate for the people of the 35th District. Last year, she sponsored legislation to create the First Responder Suicide Prevention Task Force and became co-chair of the group. “This is important to everyone across the state, but my district has one of the highest concentrations of police officers and firefighters in the state and the suicide rates are staggering for this population,” she wrote in her candidate questionnaire.

Hurley strongly advocates for people with special needs and sits on the board of the Illinois Special Olympics, one of four nonprofits for which she serves as a board member. She is endorsed over Republican Herbert Hebein, whom she defeated in the 2018 general election with nearly 69% of the vote.
