Ela Township Trustee Chris Bos, the children’s and family pastor at Alpine Chapel in Lake Zurich, is pretty conservative. He is also inclined toward collaboration, willing to reach out to other lawmakers to solve problems. He is endorsed.
Bos has been active in his district beyond his service to his church. He helped a preschool that lost its building in a fire, and he worked with a safe house for minors rescued from sex trafficking and sexual abuse. Among his priorities, if elected, is working to enact a slew of measures to tighten government ethics. They include prohibiting lawmakers from lobbying other levels of government, toughening up statements of economic interest and preventing lawmakers’ immediate family members from working as paid lobbyists. He also hopes to work to lower the tax burden on residents and businesses.
Bos was backed by state Sen. Dan McConchie, R-Hawthorn Woods, to replace former Rep. Nick Sauer, R-Lake Barrington, who resigned this seat in August 2018 after a sex scandal, but he was was passed over by the Republican county chairman.
Also running is the incumbent Democrat, Rep. Mary Edly-Allen, a teacher from Libertyville, who narrowly defeated appointed candidate Helene Miller Walsh, wife of former U.S. Rep. Joe Walsh, for the seat in 2018.
