End of an era for Ballsbridge as popular food gem feeding locals for 26 years to close its doors for last time

The people of Ballsbridge are set to lose a cafe and deli institution after over a quarter of a century serving the local community.

Hemingways Food Co, on the corner of Merrill Road, has confirmed it's shutting its doors in an emotional post on their Instagram page.

The cafe has been feeding the local office workers and Ballsbridge dwellers for the last 26 years but will close up for the last time on July 23.

In the emotional goodbye post, Hemingways thanked "all our loyal customers who have supported us through the years, especially during the pandemic".

The full post reads: "After more than 25 years, Hemingways will close its doors for the last time this Friday, July 23."

"The years have been filled with many highs, and a few lows, but in that time we have enjoyed great friendships, relationships and lots of laughs."

"We wish to thank all our loyal customers who have supported us through the years, especially during the pandemic. Through these hard times, you kept us going. We will miss you all and hope you miss us too...at least a little bit."

"At times it has been challenging but rewarding."

"As we move on to new ventures, we will remember our time in Ballsbridge fondly."
