Encouraging Bolton Wanderers stat ahead of Portsmouth which is superior to Manchester United's

Bolton Wanderers make the journey to Portsmouth this weekend aiming to return to winning ways in League One.

Ian Evatt's side travel to Fratton Park looking for their first victory in the division in four matches.

Wanderers halted a run of three successive losses last time out when they came from behind to claim a point against Gillingham in a 2-2 draw.

John Akinde put the Gills ahead, before Kyle Dempsey doubled the visitors' advantage shortly afterwards, but Wanderers rallied after the break as Dapo Afolayan halved the deficit before Kieran Lee slotted home before the end.

Wanderers are on the road again this weekend and make the journey to the South Coast to take on Danny Cowley's side as 13th take on 16th in League One.

Evatt has made assertions in the past that he feels his side is perhaps better suited to playing away from home.

And the statistics from the start of Evatt's reign in charge of the club appear to back that theory up in terms of points picked up.

Wanderers have picked up 51 points on the road away from home since the start of the 2020/21 season.

It is a figure which places them ahead of the likes of Premier League trio Manchester United, Norwich and Brentford, as well as League One side Chalrton Athletic, who all boast 50 points.

Lincoln City top the list with 56 points, while Manchester City have 55 points, Forest Green Rovers are on 53 and the duo of Bournemouth and Sunderland have 52.
