Security forces on Monday evening installed lights at an encounter site in central Kashmir’s Budgam, where a contact was established earlier in the day.
“The encounter started in the Kawoosa area of Budgam. The police and security forces are on the job,” said a police spokesman.
After the initial contact around 4:30 p.m., lights were installed in the area “as no firing was observed from the hiding militants”.
“The search is on,” the police said, adding that it was a joint operation of the police, Army and CRPF.
“The operation was launched after a specific input about the presence of militants in the village,” the police said.
