Enchanting Christmas light trail free to visit in Liverpool city centre

An exciting programme of free, festive events will be coming to the Royal Albert Dock throughout December, including the return of a magical festive light trail.

The dock's Grand Hall will transform into a hub of festive fun, with a series of free festive workshops taking place for both adults and children. Kids can also write their own letter to Santa, which can be sent straight to the North Pole by posting them in the giant ice post box on December 17.

The much-loved light trail is back and better than ever with two brand new nautical-themed additions for 2022, representing the dock's rich maritime history. A giant yellow submarine can be found next to The Beatles Story and a twinkling jellyfish duo will be located in front of the Martin Luther King Jr. building.

Visitors can download a light trail map from the Royal Albert Dock website and set off on an enchanting waterfront walk. There are also spots along the walk to pick up a warming hot drink. A variety of live music performances will be taking place on weekends throughout December.

There will also be the chance for visitors to make their own tree and table decorations in a workshop hosting by local artist, Olga Snell. Budding florists can also make their own festive door decorations with local florist Pretty Pricks.

The Grand Hall will become a drop off point for Radio City's Cash for Kids charity. Visitors can leave presents between December 5-9 to support Radio City's Mission Christmas campaign, which is an annual gift appeal that provides presents for children in need across Liverpool and the North West.

The dock's array of independent shops are ready to welcome Christmas shoppers, with new Royal Albert Dock gift bags available. Those looking to enjoy some culture can explore the Turner Prize shortlist at Tate Liverpool, with the winner set to be announced on December 7.
