EMS Group secures £7m funding package from ThinCats to continue ambitious growth strategy

A North West-based mobile healthcare group has secured a £7m funding package allowing it to continue its ambitious growth strategy.

Chester-based The EMS Group specialises in designing, manufacturing and managing high-tech mobile medical vehicles, and received the funds from alternative lender ThinCats, which is based in Ashby-de-la-Zouch.

EMS employs 56 staff and works with both public and private healthcare providers to deliver additional capacity in a range of clinical services including endoscopy, ophthalmology, and decontamination.

The funding will allow further investment in their fleet as the business expands its service into clinical trials after being awarded a large-scale trial that will begin in August in conjunction with the NHS and a major UK research institution.

In addition to the healthcare division, the marketing side of the business manages a mobile fleet that delivers event spaces for brands such as Adidas, Range Rover and Lego.

Audit, tax and consulting firm RSM’s debt advisory team helped the group secure the package.

Ashley Suter, who leads RSM’s debt advisory service in the North West, said: "Today’s investment will support the EMS Group to manufacture more units to help the NHS recover after the Covid-19 pandemic delivering extra capacity to meet the increased demand; whilst providing innovative marketing suites to support brands once the restrictions are lifted."
