Emre Can tells Jadon Sancho to 'grow up' amid Manchester United transfer interest

Borussia Dortmund midfielder Emre Can has warned Manchester United transfer target Jadon Sancho that he risks wasting his talent if he does not grow up.

Sancho was fined by the DFL last week for breaching lockdown guidelines in order to get a haircut.

The 20-year-old branded their decision an "absolute joke" on Twitter but deleted the tweet a short while later.

Back in October, Sancho was fined £86,000 and dropped for one match by Dortmund after returning late to the club following international duty with England. A month later, he was substituted after just 36 minutes in the game against Bayern Munich with manager Lucien Favre explaining the winger simply wasn't playing well enough.

Sancho remains a priority transfer target for United following his sensational season in the Bundesliga but has been warned by former Liverpool midfielder Can that he must be more disciplined.

"We know that he just has to be more disciplined in some things, but he knows that himself," he told Sky Germany. "He just has to be smarter and grow up with things like that. He can’t afford to make such mistakes in the future.

"You have to lead Jadon the right way. He’s a great boy, even off the pitch. He doesn’t do it on purpose to cause a scandal.

"Maybe he trusts too many other people in some things."
