Emre Can reveals how he really feels about Liverpool title challenge as Reds made to wait

Emre Can has revealed how he feels about Liverpool's title challenge this season as the Reds continue to soar since his Anfield departure in 2018.

The German joined Juventus after spurning a new contract on Merseyside in 2018, but has since joined Borussia Dortmind after his move to Turin was not a success.

Since his Liverpool exit, Jurgen Klopp 's side have won the Champions League, European Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup while they are a maximum of six points away from clinching a maiden Premier League title.

However, football's enforced suspension due to the Coronavirus pandemic has left the Reds waiting indefinitely to end their 30-year wait to be crowned English champions with the 2020/21 Premier League season's future left in limbo.

Should null-and-void suggestions continue to be resisted, games are likely to be played behind closed doors when the league can resume.

And former Liverpool man Can has shared his sympathy for his old club and the Reds' supporters as they continue to wait, insisting they are worthy champions whatever decision is made regarding the current campaign.

"The situation is extremely unfortunate and bitterly straight," Can told German outlet Bild.

"Of course the championship would be deserved if the season were to be abandoned now, but the team could not celebrate with the fans who are so longing for the title.

"I hope that the celebration would happen later in that case."
