Employee left baffled after boss was 'livid' he didn't give her his first class flight upgrade

A man was slammed by his entitled boss after he received a free first class upgrade on a plane and didn't give it to her, leaving her stuck in economy. He claims his manager was furious with him and pulled him up for his 'lack of respect of protocol' as she said she should have been given it for being the more 'senior' employee.

The man explained he is a frequent flyer with this specific airline which he has a credit card with and often gets free upgrades to first class thanks to the points he's earned. However, he ended up in the bad books with his manager after the pair landed back home after their conference and she told him he was livid he did not give her the seat.

Branding her as 'absolutely' insane', the man took to Reddit to share the situation, the Mirror reports. Remaining anonymous, he wrote: "My boss and I were flying home from a conference.

"We were on the same flight, but our original seats were not next to each other. I'm a frequent traveller on this airline and use their credit card, so I often get free upgrades to first class.

"I got upgraded on this flight and my boss did not." After they landed and the pair were collecting their bags, the boss decided to speak her mind about his seat change.

He said: "She said she wanted to talk to me about my 'lack of respect for protocol'. She thinks that because the company paid for my original ticket, and she is more senior than me, I should've given her the first class seat

"I think this is absolutely insane. While the company paid for my seat, it's my own personal credit card spending, and frequent travel that earned me the upgraded seat."

Other Redditors flocked to the comments to side with the man as they agreed that his boss was being unreasonable especially because he earned the upgrade through his own credit card spending. One person replied: "Sounds like she deserves a nice little chat with HR.

"That'd take care of your problem nicely. She is way out of line." Another advised: "Document every little thing she does to retaliate against you or be rude to you."

A third penned: "You need to add that the miles are associated with your personal credit card and non-company travel. She demanded that you give her a personal asset, not a business one."
