BENGALURU: A 35-year-old man was arrested for allegedly stealing Rs 30 lakh from the cash box of an electrical shop.
He had been working in the shop for a few months. The accused is Ganesh Varma, a resident of Malleswaram and from Rajasthan. Police recovered Rs 27 lakh from him and learnt one more person helped him, who is absconding.
Police said Varma was an employee of wholesale shop Marudhar Electricals in Chickpet. Owner Jayachandra filed a complaint about the December 21 robbery on January 6, saying he waited for a few days to trace Varma himself. On December 21, Jayachandra had gone out on urgent work around noon, leaving Varma in the shop alone. He returned after pm to find Varma missing and the cash box empty. Police traced Varma to Rajasthan.
