Emotional video captures brutal moment 6ft Leeds snowman is destroyed by 'heartless' driver in 4x4

CCTV footage has captured the moment that a 6ft snowman outside of a Leeds business was brutally destroyed by a hit and run driver.

Staff at Farmac Building Supplies in Pudsey had crafted the 6ft high creation during the snowy weather on Tuesday outside of the firm on Richardshaw Road.

But when staff went back to the office the next day they found their snowy creation had been completely destroyed.

It wasn't until staff checked back on CCTV that they found out what had happened to it.

James Casey, from the company, said that they checked back to see what had happened and saw that the snowman had been deliberately crashed into twice and destroyed.

The footage shared with Leeds Live shows the dramatic moment the car deliberately drives off the road to crash into the snowman knocking it down.

And then not satisfied that it was completely destroyed the driver turns around and runs it back over again to make sure that the job was done.

James said that it wasn't until they checked the CCTV footage that they realised what the "heartless" person had done.

The workers at the firm decided to create a tongue in cheek video of what happened with slow motion shots of the staff finding the destroyed snowman, complete with sad music.

It comes as much of Yorkshire was blasted by heavy snowfall yesterday in an icy blast.

The snowy weather caused chaos across the region.
