Emotional tributes pour in after death of popular Irvine pub owner

A respected pub owner has passed away.

Jamie Murray, who co-owned The Ship Inn with his brother Christopher, has sadly died and tributes have been flooding in.

Christopher said on the pub's Facebook page: "Due to the sudden and unexpected loss of my brother and business partner The Ship Inn will remain closed until further notice.

"As we try to navigate these unprecedented times we will be looking at the future of the business and what that now means for the family.

"We hope our customers can understand and respect any decisions that we make as we try to move forward.

"We would like to thank those who have reached out for their kind words, and also ask that the family's privacy be respected at this difficult time."

Irvine DJ Elliot Boyce said: "Sorry for your loss, thinking of you all."

And one of many Facebook tributes said: "Sending condolences to all of the Murray and "Ship" family at this time. Take time to heal and thanks for all you have given x."
