Emotional tributes flow following death of 'lovely' Dublin grandmother

A Dublin community is in mourning following the death of a much-beloved Blanchardstown grandmother.

Tributes have poured in for Lorraine Herbert who died peacefully surrounded by her family at the Mater Hospital on Saturday.

Residents of Whitestown Avenue in Blanchardstown will pay their respects by standing at their gates on Thursday morning when Lorraine will be laid to rest.

A post on the Whitestown Estate Management Facebook page reads: "We would like to send our deepest sympathies to the Herbert family on the passing of Lorraine Herbert. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends at this sad time.

"May she Rest in Peace.

"As a mark of respect we ask residents on the Avenue to stand at their gates Thursday morning 16th December between 9am and 10am.

"Please adhere to social distancing advice by the HSE."

One commenter said: "Thinking of all Lorraine's family. May she rest in peace. Lorraine was a lovely woman."

Another person added: "So sad , she will be missed."

A third person said: "Rest in peace, my dear friend Lorraine. You will be missed."

A notice on RIP.ie says: "Lorraine Herbert (nee Morrissey) (Blanchardstown, Dublin and formerly of the late Mary and William’s residence, Bannow Road, Cabra, Dublin) December 11th. 2021 (peacefully) surrounded by her family and in the loving care of the staff at the Mater Hospital, Dublin.

"Lorraine, beloved mother of Louise, Anthony, Steven and Niall, devoted grandmother of Taylor, Aaron, Nikita, Darragh, Jordan, Isabella, Katie, Alisha and Zayn and dear sister of Tina, Noeleen, Patricia, Esther, Jimmy, Paul, Fran, Christy, David and the late Billy and Kathleen.

"Sadly missed by her loving family, son-in-law Keith, daughters-in-law Cassandra, Stacey and Lisa, Taylor’s partner Jessica, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends."
