Emotional Susanna Reid says 'shows go on' after paying tribute to Piers Morgan following shock exit from GMB

Susanna Reid looked emotional as she declared 'shows go on' after addressing Piers Morgan's absence on Good Morning Britain.

The 50-year-old TV presenter joined Ranvir Singh on the ITV show at 6:30am and addressed her former co-host straight away.

She said: "A number of people will of course will know the news and many of you will not and will be surprised that Piers Morgan is not here this morning," mum-of-three Susanna began.

"Now, Piers and I have disagreed on many things and that dynamic was one of the things that viewers liked about the programme.

"He is without doubt an outspoken, challenging, opinionative, disruptive broadcaster. He has many critics and he has many fans."

The mum continued: "You will know that I disagreed with him about Meghan’s interview, he himself clarified his comments about her mental health on the show yesterday.

"There are many voices on GMB and everyone has their say, but now piers has decided to leave the programme. Some of you may cheer, and others will boo.

"He has been my presenting partner Monday to Wednesday for more than five years, and during Brexit and the pandemic and other issues, he has been a voice for many of you and a voice that many of you have railed against.

"It is certainly going to be very different but shows go on," she finished, as Ranvir looked on beside her.

Viewers were quick to comment on Susanna's statement and took to Twitter, the Mirror reports.

One person posted: "Never heard Susanna talk so much#goodmorningbritain."

Another tweeted: "#goodmorningbritain why are you acting like Piers Morgan has died? Susanna Reid is crumbling lol."

A third person added: "At least now we get to hear what Susanna Reid sounds like, I've been curious for a while tbh #goodmorningbritain."

Continuing their chat about Piers later on in the show, Ranvir said: "From our point of view, Piers is a unique individual, I’ve never met anyone like him. A lot of people are gutted that he’s gone.

"He ruffled feathers and he shook up the landscape of what we do. It has been a rollercoaster ride," the former Strictly Come Dancing contestant added.

Susanna continued: "We’ve had out ups and we’ve had our downs. We have had, as you know as viewers, we have had out disagreements daily.

"There’s been times when I think we haven’t been able to disagree on anything, on and off screen."

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
