Emotional Prince Harry candidly opens up about mental health challenges

An emotional Prince Harry candidly opened up about mental health tonight.

The Duke of Sussex, 35, called challenges to his wellbeing a "festering wound" and admitted "this is something that I have to manage".

Speaking to his press pal Tom Bradbury, the royal said: "It thought i was out of the woods and then suddenly it all came back and I realised that this is something that I have to manage.

"Part of this job, part of any job, means putting on a brave face and turning a cheek to a lot of stuff.

"For me and my wife there's a lot of stuff that hurts."

Prince Harry has worked recently with Ed Sheeran to highlight the importance of mental health.

The insightful documentary was filmed during Harry's tour of southern Africa with wife Meghan and their baby Archie.

It also explored Harry's relationship with Prince William and how Harry continues to grieve his mum Princess Diana .

The dad admitted he is reminded of his mother's death "every time he sees a camera".

Harry retraced his mum's steps in South Africa, something he described as "emotional".

As his mother had done before him, the prince walked across a minefield in Angola to raise awareness about the risk the country's people face.

But Harry said: "I think being part of this family, in this role, in this job, every single time I see a camera, every single time I hear a click, every single time I see a flash it takes me straight back so in that respect it’s the worst reminder of her life as opposed to the best.

"I think (it's) probably a wound that festers."
