Emotional nurse reduces Dr Hilary to tears on GMB over cancelled wedding and mask agony

A brave NHS nurse cried on Good Morning Britain on Monday as she told Lorraine Kelly and Dr Hilary about how working on the frontline to fight coronavirus has taken a toll on her life.

Intensive care nurse Jessica Head explained that the face masks healthcare workers are so tight they cause pain and spots on the face, which is having an effect on her confidence.

Not only that, but Jessica's wedding was also cancelled last month due to the lockdown.

Speaking about the searingly honest scenes Jessica. filmed for an upcoming documentary, NHS Heroes: Fighting To Save Our Lives.

She cried as she sat in her bedroom and told the camera she was "gutted" as she "just wanted to marry [her] best friend today", when their planned date came and went.

She called the PPE "unbearable to wear" as she wore spot cream on her face at night to help with the breakouts and soreness the tight masks cause.

But, she insisted, she knew she was born to be a nurse and to help others.

"I really am putting my life at risk, it's scary," she said.

Lorraine told Jessica: "You thought you would be a married woman by now."

Jessica pulled a sad face and replied: "I know, it's been difficult.

There's probably a lot of people in the same position as Alex and I, and I was looking forward to the fact we had a new date planned, but now I don't know if that will go ahead."

She added: "It's been two years worth of planning and saving and now it's not happened, it's all gone to waste."

"You're making me feel tearful!" said Dr Hilary, and thanked her for "doing a fantastic job", telling her the nation was proud of her.
