Emotional Megan McKenna reveals how she's coping with Mike Thalassitis' shock death

Megan McKenna revealed how writing music is like “therapy to her” as she opened up on “difficult” times, weeks on from the death of her ex-boyfriend Mike Thalassitis.

The former TOWIE star addressed Mike’s passing for the first time on TV on Tuesday.

Megan was devastated when her ex was found dead in March, sharing her shock in a statement on her Instagram page.

Mike had taken his own life at the age of 26, with his family, friends and loved ones recently attending his funeral.

Recently returning from Nashville, after heading back to work, the star has been writing away ahead of her country music tour.

As the interview began, Loose Women host Ruth Langsford was quick to bring Mike’s death up.

She told Megan: “People will know you've had a very difficult few months, and your ex-boyfriend Mike Thalassitis sadly took his own life in March, and you've not talked about it.

"I know you find it very difficult to talk about it, but we didn't want to look uncaring as a show to ignore it, all I want to say is how are you now?"

While addressing the news about Mike, Megan explained how she used her music to help her through.

She said: “I’m doing okay, thank you for asking, I’ve actually just come back from Nashville.

“I’ve been out there putting everything into my work, focusing on my work and writing music. I feel like Nashville is my happy place and yeah, I’m feeling good.”

On it being “therapy”, she continued: “It is, writing music is like therapy for me, it’s like writing everything down in a diary.

“It’s my way of getting all my emotions and feelings out on paper."

Taking to Instagram in March, she wrote: “Sorry I haven't been on social media but I'm in complete shock and trying to come to terms with this.

“I can't believe I'm even writing this post. My thoughts and prayers are with Mike's family. Rest in peace Mike x"

Loose Women airs weekdays at 12:30pm on ITV.
