Emotional Jurgen Klopp snaps at reporter after Liverpool's defeat to Manchester City

Jurgen Klopp was not a happy man following Liverpool's 4-1 defeat to Manchester City at Anfield.

The Reds boss was involved in an awkward exchange with Sky Sports reporter Geoff Shreeves in their post-match interview.

And it has now emerged that the German lost his temper during another interview with another television journalist.

Victory for City took them 10 points clear of reigning champions Liverpool, with a game in hand.

The Reds are fourth in the table, with the likes of Chelsea, West Ham, Everton and Tottenham breathing down their neck.

Klopp reacted angrily when asked about the margin between Liverpool and City by reporter Niv Dovrat from Israeli TV station Sport 1.

He responded: "I really think you should prepare your job better to be honest. How can you ask that?

"They are 13 points away, in my understanding, and these questions about becoming champions - do you really think that's appropriate at the moment.

"We have only two questions and you waste one for that. Your fault, you had only two questions."

After initially suggesting he would not answer any further questions, Klopp relented to say Liverpool were now thinking about finishing in the top four.

"I think they (City) are running away," he added. "That (top-four finish) is obvious. We will try to do that."

Dovrat later defended his line of questioning on Twitter, saying: "I have interviewed the Liverpool manager dozens of times over the past few years. Last night, I was exposed to a different and unusual response.

"Looking back, I think the style, manner and tone of the question were appropriate. The manager disagreed with me."

Klopp had earlier had a run-in with Shreeves, claiming he did not agree with his assessment that Liverpool had played well in the match.

“When you lose 4-1, it’s not our day, but in big parts of the game we played a brilliant game, we played really good football," he insisted.

However, Klopp then said to Shreeves: "I can see in your eyes you think differently."

The interviewer replied: “I’m not saying differently. I was listening intently to you.

Klopp responded: “Ah, OK. I really liked it and in the first half we played really good football."
