Emotional Imelda May tells RTE's Ryan Tubridy her elderly mother 'is not good at all' after stroke

Imelda May says her elderly mother is "not good at all" after suffering a stroke.

The singer's mother Madge Clabby, who will be 94 in February, is currently in hospital after the sudden health issue.

And songtress Imelda opened up about not being able to visit her during the pandemic.

Imelda told Ryan Tubridy on RTE Radio One this morning: "Mom's not good at all.

"It's really tough because we can't visit her and it's just absolutely torturous."

Madge mostly still recognises her daughter and was delighted to see her when she got back for Christmas.

They are trying to get her speech back after the stroke.

Imelda added: "She's been brilliant all her life and lives by her own rules.

"She's such a strong woman, I'm very lucky to have had her and my dad in my life.

"I wouldn't be doing what I'm doing if it wasn't for them, their support and their encouragement."

May has joined forces with Noel Gallagher on her new song Just One Kiss.

The Irish singer and poet’s new highly anticipated tune will also feature rocker and longtime pal Ronnie Wood.

The Dubliner, who is based in the UK, teamed up with the former Oasis singer and Rolling Stone legend on the track for her upcoming studio album, 11 Past The Hour.

The Road Runner hitmaker admitted she was ‘nervous and excited’ as confirmed the new song on her social media pages by sharing some of the lyrics, after giving snippets of clues earlier in the week.

She said: “It’s release day. It’s nerve wracking, it’s exciting.”

Teasing the new music, she wrote: “That moment you know it can go either way.

“The split second decision you know might change everything with Just One Kiss.

Could you resist?”

Announcing her special guests on the tune, she added:

“Who better to join me on this than Ronnie Wood and Noel Gallagher!”

The track debuted live on air on BBC Radio 2 after 7.30pm on Wednesday.

Legendary rocker Ronnie, who is a longtime pal of the Johnny Got a Boom Boom singer said: “Go for it Imelda.”

Fans, friends and a host of famous faces also rushed to congratulate her on the tune with Laura Whitmore saying : ‘Finally!’ alongside some love hearts.

TV and radio presenter Angela Scanlon also heaped on praise, writing: ‘Sublime.’

Meanwhile, Irish TV chef Clodagh McKenna said: “Congratulations you wonderful woman.”

The upcoming album follows the release of Imelda’s first poetry record, ‘Slip Of The Tongue’, which was released last May.

It followed her 2017 album, ‘Life Love Flesh Blood’.

‘11 Past The Hour’ is released on April 23.
