Emotional Dog the Bounty Hunter says 'fiance' Moon Angell saved him from suicide

Dog the Bounty Hunter Duane Chapman has praised his new girlfriend Moon Angell for saving him from a suicide attempt after his depression battle following the death of late wife Beth Chapman.

Reality star Duane, 66, who "proposed" to his longtime girlfriend, was seen talking about how she saved him from suicidal thoughts on a trailer for The Dr Oz Show.

Moon was a close friend of Beth's and acted as maid of honour at her wedding to Dog. She is also the ex girlfriend of Dog's son.

In a sneak peek of the episode set to air on February 3, Duane explains the role Moon played in stopping him from attempting suicide, and gives full credit to his girlfriend.

The heartbreaking news comes months after fifth wife Beth lost her two-year battle to throat and lung cancer in June.

Making the surprise confession during his upcoming appearance on the show, Dog says: "I couldn't stop crying. I wasn't going to commit suicide with a gun or something. I was going to take a lot of pills because she left, Beth left all her big pills there. So I thought I just need one drink of water."

Dog eventually reached out to Moon and she helped him out of the shocking act.

"I don't go in and out. It's one way," Moon exclaimed.

"This is the way we're going to do it. He needs to get going. We need to get back on the show and get him busy again."

It comes after he "proposed" to his girlfriend on the show, but sources have told TMZ that the proposal wasn't legit and that Dog simply got caught up in the moment.

TV star Dog is seen popping the question in a teaser clip for a new episode of The Dr Oz Show.

Getting emotional, Dog turns towards his new lover and says: "Moon Angell, will you marry me?"

The clip ends before her answer can be heard, but she looks shocked.

Insiders say he did not give Moon a ring.

They add that Dog said he had been talking to God during a bathroom break and that it was God who told him he should pop the question.
