Emotional Dec fights tears as he speaks about bond with best pal Ant in trailer for new show

An "emotional" Declan Donnelly is seen opening up about the bond with his best pal in the trailer for a new TV show which reveals one of the pair has royal roots.

Ant and Dec's DNA Journey , set to air on ITV in November, sends the much-loved Geordie duo on an "adventure" to discover both their family histories.

In the opening to the newly-released trailer, Dec speaks about his close friendship with the friend he met on the set of Byker Grove , and with whom he's been close publicly and privately ever since - and seems to be fighting back tears.

He says: "It's not lost on us how lucky we are that we met each other. We get on so well.  I'm getting emotional now."

The tone picks up, as clips are shown of the duo travelling to places where their family roots have been found.

Ant says: "I'm more up for this, I'll be honest with you - I think he's a bit nervous."

Dec looks worried as he admits: "I don't know if I'm ready."

During the show, they are seen travelling to Ireland as well as the US, where they visited the United Nations headquarters in New York.

One of them discovers that their great-grandfather was a celebrated war hero while the other finds out that their cousin was a former US female wrestling promoter.

Their research also uncovers evidence that one of their ancestors' bones are deemed "of historical importance".
