Emotion run high as minutes silence held for Typhoon Hagibis victims before Japan v Scotland

Emotions ran understandably high ahead of the Japan v Scotland World Cup clash.

The match had been in doubt due to the adverse weather brought on by Typhoon Hagibis.

But, as important as this match might be for Japan and Scotland's World Cup hopes, it pales into insignificance compared to the human impact caused by the storm.

At least 23 people are dead, while thousands more have been evacuated, with the storm one of the most ferocious weather events in the country's recent history.

A further 16 people are missing and at least 149 are injured, with officials still trying to determine the total number of casualties.

And the emotions of locals were plain to see as a moment of silence was held for the victims of the storm before Japan's match with Scotland in Yokohama.
