Emilia Clarke proved she was the biggest Jennifer Lopez superfan at the Emmys on Sunday night.
Although Clarke lost out for the Lead Actress award for her role as Daenerys Targaryen, her sleek Valentino gown and beauty look were a hit on social media. Clarke revealed she had deliberately channeled J-Lo for the look and fangirled about the singer on the red carpet.
Clarke teased her Lopez-inspired look on Instagram, sharing a picture of herself wearing a sparkly shadow, pin straight hair and a very Jenny from the Block nude gloss. She tagged the singer in her post, writing, “@jlo just as heads up you have inspired this year's lewk.”
Once Clarke arrived on the carpet, she continued to wax lyrical about Lopez in an interview.
The Game of Thrones star gave Lopez's new film Hustlers a glowing review and said to Entertainment Tonight, “I think that J-Lo in Hustlers is the greatest introduction to a character I have ever seen. I heckled in the cinema - I’m English, I don’t do that - but I did.”
“So J-Lo is my inspiration this evening,” she continued, “I plan on channeling her all night long.”
The feeling appeared to be mutual, as the Hustlers star then re-shared an interview clip of Clarke praising her on Instagram. Lopez, who plays veteran stripper Ramona in the film, wrote, “When the Mother of Dragons meets #Ramona...I love u @emilia_clarke.”
She hashtagged the post #dead.
Lopez did not attend the Emmys, though Clarke attended the awards ceremony with many of her cast members from Game of Thrones.
Although the HBO fantasy epic won an award for Outstanding Drama Series, Clarke lost out on a Lead Actress in a Drama Series win to Killing Eve’s Jodie Comer.
Many of her co-stars lost out on awards too, barring Peter Dinklage who won Supporting Actor in a Drama Series.
Clarke hinted that she would be continuing to celebrate at the Emmys after-parties all night long in her Instagram post - sneaking a champagne bottle emoji into her caption.
She also shared a telling hashtag, which read #iplanonseeingtomorrowssunrise.
