Like a brilliant supernova that lights up the cosmic stage, we bid a tearful yet celebrated farewell to the remarkable Emmy-winning actor, Andre Braugher. This exceptional artist, known for illuminating the TV screen with his performances in the series “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” and “Homicide: Life on the Street”, transitioned from our earthly realm to the stars on Monday at the age of 61.

We knew Andre was a warrior, what with his valiant battle against a brief illness. However, it wasn't until Thursday that his representatives painted the full picture of his struggle; our stellar hero had been grappling with lung cancer, a revelation shared by his publicist, Jennifer Allen.

Andre, like a true entertainer, kept much of his offstage life shrouded in mystery. His illness rarely flickered across the radar, surprising many of his co-stars. The enigmatic actor mentioned to the New York Times in 2014 that he had released the bonds of smoking and drinking from his life years ago, but, despite the lifestyle overhaul, the grim spectre of lung cancer managed to trap him in its grasp.

Our first brush with Andre's luminous talent took place in the City of Angels' playground, Hollywood. The 1989 film “Glory” granted Braugher his ticket to stardom, where he shared the limelight with the stalwarts Denzel Washington and Morgan Freeman. His performance in this movie set the stage for the boundless journey where he would continue to leave audience and critics kindled with his talent.
